Newspaper Clipping: Fiestas Patrias Honors La Senora Munoz Simon

Description

The newspaper clipping details some of Margarita Munoz Simon's accomplishments and activist positions in the Austin community. The clipping contains two photos of Munoz Simon and her work with broadcasting radio stations in 1950 and 1983. The article was written by Marty Levy and issued on September 9, 1983. Levy writes about Munoz Simon’s early life and how she came to Austin from Eagle Pass with her husband back in 1946. Munoz Simon started a Spanish newsletter called “El Democratico,” but closed it down after her husband left for the army and she found it difficult to find people who wrote or spoke Spanish. She then transferred over to radio and stayed there for over thirty years hosting programs that were also accessible to the Hispanic community of Austin.
